Getting Started Instructions

The “Lewisburg Borough Ordinances” contents are accessible using an internet browser: Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Explorer (3.x or better). To display multimedia elements Quicktime™ is required and your computer’s sound capabilities must be enabled. Special features such as a dynamic table of contents, full-text search capability, and a hypertext index can only be accessed from a Windows browser using a special plugin* that you must install on your computer.

* If you are using a “PC” without this plugin, or a Macintosh, you may see a message that says you need to have the plugin. You can ignore this message and still browse all the information available on the CD, however the special features mentioned above will not be operational. By using VirtualPC™ or Softwindows™, the plugin can be used by a Mac and all features will be available.

To install the plugins, follow the instructions below before proceeding. Both plugins are available online and easy to install. Before exiting your browser to complete the installations, you may want to print this page so you have a hard copy to reference.

To install the PlugTOC:

1.	Download the PlugTOC.exe file by clicking here.
2.	Exit your Browser.
3.	From Windows run the file “plugTOC.exe” and follow the installer directions.
4.	You must have Netscape Communicator (version 3.x or 4.x) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (3.x or better) to use this plugin. If you want to use both browsers you run the plugtoc installer twice, once for each browser.

	Note: this plugin is not compatible with “Netscape 6.0.” Use Netscape Communicator version 4.76 which can be downloaded from Netscape.com.
5.	If Quicktime is already installed (QuickTime 3.0 will work but QuickTime 4.0 or better is preferred), open your browser and return to the Lewisburg, PA Ordinances introduction page.

To Install Quicktime 4.0:

1.	Download the Quicktime Installer by clicking here.
2.	Exit your browser
3.	Run the Quicktime installer and follow the installer directions.
4.	Open your browser and return to Lewisburg, PA Ordinances introduction page. Please note that you do not have to upgrade to Quicktime Pro in order for the plugin to function properly in VIC.

Note that the contents of this web site will be easiest to view if you adjust your display (monitor) “Screen Area” setting to 1024 x 768.
